Sisters Trip June 2008 - Puerto Vallarta

Sisters Trip 2008: Every other year my two sisters and I go on a trip together and have coined it our "sisters trip." We've been doing this for about 15 years!!! Crazy. Through trial and error we have determined that 5 days is the perfect amount of time together. This year we went to Puerto Vallarta and had a blast. This was our best sisters trip ever. We stayed in a nice hotel and relaxed by the ocean, shopped, ate great food, talked, laughed and enjoyed each others company. Here we are on our first day, right in front of our hotel. We decided to stay in an area a little north of Puerto Vallarta because the beaches to the north are less rocky and crowded. But we still wanted to go check out the city of Puerto Vallarta. We took a nice tourist bus into the outskirts of Puerto Vallarta and then rode one of the local busses......what a difference!! They were so bouncy we all decided next time around we would wear our sports bras! Plus, we were told "clowns" would be on the bus. We were on the lookout for people w/red wigs and noses but instead we were treated to individuals who sang, played guitars, etc. Very entertaining!
It was hot and humid so we decided it was time for dinner somewhere with A/C. We ended up at "PiPi''s," which was recommended by a friend. Yummy food!! Amazing guacomole!
We took a cab back to our hotel and checked out the sunset. What a great start to our trip!

Sisters Trip - Hanging Out

Lunch on the beach at our hotel...this is the life!

We went to Bucieras for a nice dinner - Yum!

Puerto Vallarta - Yelapa

We decided to spend the day in Yelapa, a little fishing village south of P.V. We took a water taxi over to the island and enjoyed the beautiful, clear water. Another motivating factor for leaving our nice beach front hotel and making the trek into P.V. to catch the water taxi was.....PIE!! I'm not kidding. We had read in a guide book about a pie lady in Yelapa that made incredible pies. We decided to go on a fact finding mission to make sure the guide book was accurate.

I'm not going to lie...these are just the pieces Becky & I bought...Carol's are on the other side. We have serious sugar issues! Coconut pie, chocolate pie, cheese pie, coconut/chocolate pie, pecan pie, chocolate pecan pie...way too many choices so we had to try them all. It's a tough job but we were up for the task. And yes, the guide book was accurate...the pies were fantastic.

Carol & Becky....burning off the calories from all the pie.

Sisters Trip - Relaxation

The view from our balcony....perfect place for a nice little lunch of leftovers. Yum!
We had fun lounging by the pool or on the beach.....so relaxing.

Carol even fit in a few naps on a hammock underneath these two trees!

Puerto Vallarta - Karen's Place

We had dinner at an awesome restaurant in Bucieras, called Karen's Place, right on the Beach. The food was amazing and I was even able to coax my sisters into whooping it up with some margaritas (just kidding, we're drinking water and ice tea...had you going there for a minute, didn't I?).
We decided to walk back to our hotel, thinking it would only take us 20 minutes.
The walk turned out to be a 45 minute, dark, crab infested walk. The beach was just crawling with crabs...we screamed and laughed and I'm sure one of us wet our pants.
Still, it was the best sisters trip ever! Thank you Carol and Becky for making it an awesome trip....so relaxing and fun. You guys are the best!!!

June 2008 - Happy Birthday Alli!

What a great homecoming...a Birthday Party!!! Yes, you guessed it...lots of CHOCOLATE cake!!My mom ("Mormor") and the kids were so excited to throw a little birthday party complete with a nice dinner, balloons, presents and chocolate cake. Thanks Mormor, you are the best!!!

June 2008 - Santa Cruz

After staying in Carmel Valley, we headed to the Santa Cruz mountains to go on some hikes and check out the redwoods. The place we stayed was a little more rustic than Bernardus but we still had a great time relaxing in the hammocks and enjoying the shade of the tall trees!

We went on a nice long hike to burn off some of the calories from all the food we ate! It was a great weekend getaway!
