Happy New Year!
S'Mores in December!
We decided to take the kids to Huntington Beach to hang out and roast s'mores over the fire. We made sure to get there before dark so we could get the fire lit and so the kids could play. I love where we live because we are soooo close to the beautiful beaches!!
Ben and Summer had so much fun sliding down this little embankment....aaaah the simple things in life.

Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas!!! Oh my goodness, Christmas is so much fun when you are around two little kids. Their eyes were as big as saucers when they walked into the living room and saw that Santa had eaten the cookies and left lots of presents. Ben was so excited to check out his stocking....
Summer was way too distracted by her play kitchen to even think about what was inside her stocking.
Christmas Continued...
More Christmas Fun! Ben & Summer both like Madagascar and Ben likes to name us after the characters. He is always Alex the Lion, I'm Melman the giraffe, Summer is Gloria the hippo and Brian is Marty the zebra. Brian will call from work sometimes and talk to "Alex". So Ben was very excited to get this movie for Christmas!!
Growing up we used to set out all of our Christmas presents and then have a picture taken so we could remember everything we received. Miss Wiggle Queen was tricky to get a good picture of and Ben's toys were spread all over the place so we didn't even try with him! Maybe this won't be one of my family traditions....

Santa's Helpers
Brian received the fun task of building Ben's rollercoaster track......3 hours later the fabulous rollercoaster track was complete (I don't even know how many little parts there were but come to find out this toy is for ages 7 and up....). Meanwhile, I put together the kitchen and put all the other gifts around the tree....and then relaxed.

Christmas Eve Day
Ohhh the excitement! It's Christmas Eve. Ben, Summer and I did some last minute grocery shopping and then while Summer napped Ben and I had the important task of making cookies for Santa.
What a good helper!! He had a hard time resisting the chocolate so of course I let him sample a few pieces.
Next we made a gingerbread train. We had so much fun. I think Ben ate as much frosting and candy as we actually put on the train.
Awww, what a cute boy. We had fun building this together. (FYI: I'm wearing an apron so the frosting doesn't get all over my black turtleneck.....didn't want my fashionable sisters to think I was wearing some weird get up).
Christmas Eve
Every Christmas Eve, for as long as I can remember, my mom always had appetizers for dinner and then we were allowed to open one present. I have carried that tradition along to my family. This year we had BBQ'd shrimp, hot clam dip in a bread bowl, mini hotdogs in crescents and veggies with dip. Yum!
Next the kids got to pick one of the presents they received from their cousins.
