Pre Birthday Events - September 2008

I took the kids on a ride through the neighborhood in the bike trailer and when we stopped for a snack, Summer tried to climb over the part that connects the bike to the trailer and knocked over my bike. I lunged over to grab it and actually caught it with my leg, but it still nicked her below the eye. This happened about 2 days before her birthday. Poor thing!

This is a picture of Summer about 20 minutes before her birthday party. Can you tell she likes ketchup - sheesh!! I had to give her a quick bath so we made it just in time!

Dana Point Aquarium - August 2008

We spent part of an afternoon at the aquarium in Dana Point.

The kids had a lot of fun running around, checking everything out.

Summer Time - August 2008

Summer is a crack up. She was having so much fun goofing around after we had dinner. She is truly my messiest little child! We let her play in the little blow up pool in our backyard before and after dinner so she was in heaven.

No Training Wheels/No Go - August 2008

Ben wanted to try to ride his bike without the training wheels and these are the results:

Step 1: The instructions and discussion on balance.

Step 2: Trial and Error (many times).

Step 3: Support from Summer (she's chasing him and saying "Go Benny").

Step 4: The result. Quote from Ben, "Let's put the training wheels back on now."

Miracle Bib - August 2008

My mother in law makes the best bibs. As you will see below, not even an almost 2 year old can wrestle them off. Close....but not quite. See - her shirt stayed clean! And it kept her busy!

A Phase - August 2008

Ben is going through a phase.....when I tell him to say "cheese" or smile nicely he turns his head. Nice! But check out little Summer peaking around the high chair. She loves to have all the attention she can get!

Huntington Beach - August 2008

We live really close to Huntington Beach (10 min. from door to sand) and we try to go there as much as we can over the summer. I would like to go even more but it gets a little tricky taking two little ones on my own...Summer will run straight into the waves so I have to really watch her. And Ben is always wanting me to jump in the waves with him (which is a blast) but tricky with the two of them.
Nourishment between building a sand castle and jumping in the wave.
I think some sunglasses are in order for this little guy.

Guess how long it takes to get from the water to the showers....I'll give you a hint MUCH longer than it takes to drive to the beach from my house. Whew!

Little Summer likes (insists) on walking the whole way by herself and it's a pretty wide stretch of sand. Gotta love it!
